August is a bittersweet month for me. It has been for some time. Yet, it is a month of mobilizing and being energized, and it is the deep breath I take this month which propels me towards the end of the year.
As stressful as this year has been, it is also a reminder of two things:
#1. There is so much work to do. We as the citizenry of his nation, are more powerful than we realize. Even though all of these things to discourage or discredit us have occurred, we cannot be defeated by them! Don’t fall of the lie of “None of this matters, nothing will change.” This is a lie! There is something you can do, should do, need to do, and should do immediately! The first thing is register to vote.
I don’t want to hear it! If voting wasn’t important–the powers that be wouldn’t fight you and I as hard as they do.
#2. Help is here and is coming. This month, there will be many places, initiatives, and people you should be aware of in order lend your voice, hands, and support. I am encouraged by Generation Z! Soon, they will be able to vote, and are wiser than we may give them credit for. Within the next 3-5 years, that generation will be able to vote! We must hold the line for them, and model how to survive in a place determined to neither to see you nor keep you safe.
It is our turn to fight, Torches.
It is just our turn to fight.
