I found out this really cool thing this week, and I thank a woman on the clock app for this (this being TikTok–shouts to @morgannychole)–the Habitual Be.
When thinking about AAVE (which is a dialect, language and regional nuisances), and thinking about the word ‘be’. With 5 conjugations of the word (be, am, is, was, were) with the AAVE the word ‘be’ is not often conjugated. Peep this:
“Who all gon be over there?”
“Who be eating all the cookies?”
“That be how it is, cuh”
The word BE never changed, but yet–y’all knew exactly what I said, didn’t you?
Bless up to the, Habitual Be.
